Description
Top shelf chardonnay made by Curly Flat, the superstars of Mt Macedon. Is this Australia’s finest chardonnay? What a joy it is to drink this! The Moraghan’s belief of “ ..expressing the footprint of the vineyard rather than the thumbprint of the winemaking” is evident here thanks to the dream vintage of 2012.
95 Points Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front ... “Macedon Ranges chardonnay from one of the region’s leaders, Curly Flat. Characterised by its length. This is a classic chardonnay release from Curly Flat. It has ageworthiness written all over it – though of course it drinks well now. Spotlessly clean lemon, slate, oak-spice, peach and hay flavours. Slinky, cedary oak. Almost sweet-fruited but not quite; just so. Beautiful.”
5 out of 5 – Ben Thomas, The Weekly Review … “I could describe this in three words – complex, effortless & lengthy – but they wouldn’t truly describe what a joy this wine is to drink. Aromas of white nectarine, hazelnuts, lemon zest & spice from the oak barrels it spends its early life in. It has similar flavours (plus a stony, mineral character) that are intense & flow so neatly around the mouth. It’s smooth, edgy, intense & with a light, powdery grip to & lengthy finish.”
93 Points, Huon Hooke … “Mid-yellow hue, and a tremendously complex bouquet with candlewax, beeswax, creamy lees, lightly toasted bread nuances all intermingling nicely. It’s fresh and zesty in the mouth with ample acidity and freshness on the aftertaste. Excellent chardonnay.”
