LAST BOTTLES! vintage of a generation – Old Vine Barossa shiraz from 2012
Out of stock
Description
Fuit sourced from two low yielding unirrigated 45 and 90 yr old vineyards in Barossa ‘s Gommersal & Ebenezer district.
Smokey and tarry notes complement the rich black fruits with hint of aniseed. Full bodied with round opulent flavours of ripe blackberries and plums. The finish is long and luscious with beautifully balanced tannin, acidity and oak (24 mths in French oak). Tribute to the 2012 vintage!
95 points James Halliday “The brute has class. Blue. black and red berry notes join in to form a powerful chorus of flavour. You feel the power from the first sip and yet it comes across as seamless, soft, moreish, mint, sawdust, ground spice and violet notes add both complexity and a veneer of prettiness; Marlon Brando petting a dove. Vigourous length of flavour and firm tannin are key assets. “
94 points Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front “Crowd pleasing flavours with a bit of firmness, a bit of resistance, perfectly balanced, perfectly flavoured, combines blue, black and red berries with great aplomb. Has a general mintyness but it’s offset by notes of cedar, sawdust, ground spice and violet. Tannin feels underdone at first but it builds and gathers and forces a rethink. The fruit though is the thing, it keeps gyrating on, boundless, joyful. Will cellar but easy to drink this now. “
