Description
What a wine from leading Barossa winemaker Kym Teusner! Base wine comprises top shelf old vine single vineyard shiraz south of Tanunda followed by 2 years in French oak and 2 years on lees in bottle to create a fine and pesrsistent bead. More ish dry style and has the structure to age and develop for at least a decade. Forget the cranberry sauce. this is the perfect accompaniment to the roast turkey!
Kym Teusner says about this vintage … “Our inaugral release in 2005 gathered some fantastic reviews and the 2013 is set to carry on this tradition with select parcels of old vine fruit harvested specifically for production of the wine. And once again, the wine is topped off with a crown seal. We tend to take it easy with the dosage also….we aim for a savoury, pure fruit driven style without any sugary trickery and cloying finish. With extended time on lees the resulting wine, I’m sure you will agree, is delicious drinking and will continue to improve in the cellar over the medium term.
95 Points, Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion “There’s volume and there’s softness but most of all there’s a wide array of flavours. This ramps up the complexity a step or three. Mushroom, sweet plum, earth, spice and leather flavours combine to beautiful effect. Throughout it remains fresh. Upper echelon in its style.”
95 points, Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front. “This is good. Very. I tasted this first thing in the morning and it made me want to write the day off. It’s complex and generous. Soft too. Mushroomy but in a controlled way. Plummy. Fresh but noticeably developed. Nailed it. You can see the liqueur but it’s a complement. I haven’t liked a sparkling shiraz as much as this one in some time.”
Under crown seal.
