Description
Established in 1972, as one of Australia’s pioneer chardonnay producers, Mountadam was founded by the late David Wynn recognising the potential of a cool, elevated site to produce wines of great elegance and structure. David and Jenni Brown purchased Mountadam in 2005 with particular focus on producing wines which showcase the delicate beauty and purity of the single site High Eden fruit.
The Mountadam Vineyards Five Fifty range is aptly named after the Estates altitude of 550m above sea level. All Mountadam wines (including the Five Fifty range) are sourced entirely from our Estate of 147 hectares undervine. The Five Fifty range offers amazing quality for price value being made from Mountadam’s 2001 and 2002 Shiraz plantings.
100% estate grown Shiraz. Extraordinary quality for the price.
90 points, Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion “The Five-Fifty, so named for the elevation of the estate vineyards, is Mountadam’s entry-level range and presents flavourful bistro-style wines at a super-sharp pricepoint. The juicy satsuma plum, dark cherry and blackberry fruits here are cut with dark spices and hints of licorice, sage, dark chocolate, purple flowers and earth. Medium bodied and flavour packed; seems like a good deal to me!”
