Each year, Jed’s three young Australian winemakers travel to the Uco Valley in Argentina to craft wines that express the unique characters of this acclaimed alpine region. They were hugely impressed with the Uco Valley in Mendoza (450 year history of winemaking) as a unique place to make wine with its fresh snowmelt water (from the Andes), crisp mountain air, high altitude (1250 m) and pure UV light.
Mendoza is famous for producing the world’s finest Malbec but it is the cooler sites of Uco Valley that have recently been discovered as the best. This pristine environment produces naturally balanced wines which require minimal intervention in both the vineyard and winery. The cooler climate fosters the development of the bright cherry flavours in this wine and provides a fine tannin structure. Jed Malbec is made in a traditional medium bodied style. 70% aged in 2nd/3rd use French/American oak to showcase the trademark fine/ripe tannins of Mendoza Malbec.
