Description
Sons of Eden are well and truly stars of the Barossa. Co-owners, Corey Ryan (“cut his teeth” as winemaker at Henschke for 10 years) winemaker and Simon Cowham (ex-viticulturist Yalumba) are on song with this limited single vineyard release!
The High Eden sub-region of Eden Valley is a small and unique region designated by its high altitude, however it is also defined by the schist soils and rocky outcrops, vast exposure and undulating hillside aspects, enhancing its suitability for growing Riesling. The skies over High Eden are typified by ‘Cirrus’ cloud formations for most of the growing and harvest seasons, making for a picturesque backdrop to the vineyards and a perfect name for this wine. The Cirrus Riesling is made from the highly prized Boems Springs vineyard at 550 metres in High Eden ( very low yielding due to wind exposure and schist rock soils) and made in only exemplary years.
From the winery: Pale green colour, vibrant white currents, grapefruit and fresh lemon juice aromas. The palate is refined, with great intensity and freshness, finishing with a flicker of mineral texture. Released after 12 months of bottle maturation, this wine will mature for many years to come.” 12.5% Alc Residual Sugar: 2.1g/l. Cellar until 2038.
Super smart offering bound to give you joy for many years from this extraordinary High Eden vineyard.
94 Points James Halliday (Tyson Stelzer) “True to the 2020 season, this is a rich and powerful yet high-tensile riesling, launching out ripe and full with baked apple and kaffir lime fruit, morphing through the palate into a honed and tense finish of pure lemon and lime juice. Crystalline acidity unites seamlessly with powder-fine phenolic grip to lay out tension, structure and endurance.”
