The Kangarilla Road winery was established by Helen and Kevin O’Brien in 1997 on a site with vineyards dating back to the 1970’s. These mature vines allow Kangarilla Road to achieve the rich fruit flavours that are a trademark of McLaren Vale red wines. The Kangarilla Road philosophy remains unchanged: “To produce wines that we enjoy drinking – wines that can be enjoyed with or without food and especially with friends.”

This wine is a sub-regional blend of several McLaren Vale vineyards from an excellent vintage in 2013, matured for 16 months in new and old French and American oak.  Dark floral notes reminiscent of roses, together with hints of white pepper and juicy red plums. On the palate dark berry fruits intertwine with prunes and chocolate. The wine finishes with fine oak and natural fruit tannins carrying with them a lingering taste of fresh blackberries.   This is a super buy at this price!

Does not have the intensity or power of Kangarilla Road’s ’13 single vineyard Shirazs, but is a tidy number nonetheless, leaving no doubt about its variety or place of origin. It is very well balanced, with an almost fleshy feel to its blackberry, licorice and dark chocolate palate, the tannins fine, the long finish well balanced.”
