Drawn from one of the Provence’s most celebrated terroirs, AIX Rosé is created to be the purest possible expression of what a rosé wine can be.
There’s a reason Provence is the birthplace of rosé. With mineral-rich soils, 300 days of sun a year and the cooling Mistral winds, it offers the ideal growing conditions for Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault grapes, the classical Provence blend used to make AIX Rosé.
From humble beginnings in 1880 as a truffle orchard, the vineyard was converted over to vines in the early 1900’s making it today one of the largest Domaines in the AOP Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence area. The vineyard is situated 420m above sea-level. Farmed organically, the AIX Rose is made from the top blend of Maison Saint Aix. Aix’s focus is to create the best possible rose in the world. Its generous taste, harmonious structure and long finish make it the perfect rose to be shared all year round.
Notes from the winery about this vintage: “A blend of Grenache (60%) Syrah (20%) and Cinsault (20%). 2021 proved to be a challenging but very successful vintage for AIX Rosé. 2021 was a unique year for most winegrowers in Provence. There was frost in mid-April, which was very unusual, and thankfully not as serious as initially feared, followed by a hot and dry summer. With no rain in July and August, we welcomed the rain in early September which extended the growing season and ensured a perfect balance between sugar ripeness and fresh acidity, the perfect result for rosé production.
“A pure, pale salmon pink coloured wine with gentle onion skin hues that shine from the glass upon swirling. A fine, delicate nose with floral blossom, peach, fresh citrus, and hints of red fruit lead to a classic fresh and bright palate, a spritely acidity balanced with wild strawberry, raspberry, and stone fruit notes. The 2021 vintage has a lovely line and tension driven by a wellintegrated acidity and crushed shell minerality, all leading to a surprisingly long and complex finish.”
