Description

Founded in 1879 Domaine Dubreuil-Fontaine is run by fifth generation winemaker Christine Dubreuil. It is located on the hillside of the historic town of Pernand-Vergelesses in the Cotes de Beaunes. The Domaine owns 20 hectares of vines spread across some twenty appellations across the Cote de Beaune. Hand Picking with sorting as required, Pinot is completely destemmed then sees around five days of cold maceration before fermentation. New oak is used but is kept to about 35% for the Grand Crus. Since Christine has taken over quality at this Domaine has gone from strength to strength. Pommard, the most famous growth for Pinot Noir in the Côte de Beaune area indeed back in 1935 the owners knocked back Grand Cru classification by INAO so as to avoid the burden of taxes. Serious pedigree and modest price for 1re Cru Burgundy. Very smart offering here

  • 90-92, Neal Martin, Vinous Media  “The 2017 Pommard Epenots 1er Cru shows just a little reduction, but underneath there is bright red berry fruit laced with minerals, a subtle crushed stone scent coming through. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip and a little earthy in texture. There is superb energy and good focus here. The mineral-rich finish lingers in the mouth.”
