Description
Founded in 1879 Domaine Dubreuil-Fontaine is run by fifth generation winemaker Christine Dubreuil. It is located on the hillside of the historic town of Pernand-Vergelesses in the Cotes de Beaunes. The Domaine owns 20 hectares of vines spread across some twenty appellations across the Cote de Beaune. Hand Picking with sorting as required, Pinot is completely destemmed then sees around five days of cold maceration before fermentation. New oak is used but is kept to about 35% for the Grand Crus. Since Christine has taken over quality has improved markedly.
93 points, Allen Meadows, burghound.com, April 10, 2019 “There is an overt spiciness to the even more restrained nose that blends notes of both red and dark cherry, plum, violet, lavender and a whiff of warm earth. The silky, intense and chiseled middle weight flavors flash a subtle minerality before terminating in a youthfully austere and wonderfully persistent finish that, like the Perrières, is well-balanced. Drink: 2029+. Sweet spot.”
92-94 points, Neal Martin, Vinous Media “The 2017 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru has a little reduction on the nose, but underneath there is plenty of black and red berry fruit; black olive and touches of violet develop in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied and a little opulent, offering supple tannin, touches of espresso lining the black and blue fruit and fine precision toward the finish. Excellent.”
