Bannockburn ‘RE CLASSIFIED ‘ 1314 a.d Pinot Noir 2011

$28.99

Reclassified Estate Pinot – still sporting the Gold estate Capsule!) due to the nature of the 2011 vintage – producing a restrained, more classically varietal pinot without the power and intensity of typical Bannockburn.   We love the unbeatable value for a pinot of this calibre … Their Estate Pinot would normally sell for over $55 a bottle making this a bargain indeed!  Be quick stock is extremely limited..

Description

Bannockburn Vineyards (25 kms north west of Geelong) have been one of the trailblazers of Australian fine wine for over 37 years.  Since Michael Glover took over winemaking in 2005 he has quickly taken the wines to yet another level and captured plenty of attention “…outstanding wines across the range, all with individuality, style, great complexity and depth of flavour. “James Halliday and 5 star winery rating.

Michael Glover is one of the most intelligent and questioning winemakers of Australia’s younger generation..” Andrew Jefford, the World of Fine Wine ..

Winemaker, Michael Glover decided to reclassify Estate Pinot (200 dozen still sporting the Gold estate Capsule!) due to the nature of the 2011 vintage – producing a restrained, more classically varietal pinot without the power and intensity of typical Bannockburn.   We love the unbeatable value for a pinot of this calibre … Their Estate Pinot would normally sell for over $55 a bottle making this a bargain indeed!  Be quick stock is extremely limited..

2011 Vintage Notes by Michael Glover: …. “The 2011 was a slightly unusual season at Bannockburn due to far more gentle conditions than some previous years. It was a season of slightly higher than average rainfall and slightly cooler temperatures. With rainfall higher than usual, our yields were higher as well with fruit yields coming in about 1/3 higher than average. The wines across the range show great varietal fruit character along with freshness lift and charm. I regard the wines as being far more classically varietal and also more restrained than the typical Bannockburn power, texture and ‘attitude’.”
This wine has been made from fruit hand harvested from our own dry grown vineyards including Olive Tree Hill, Stuart, Serré and De La Terre. Approximately one third of this wine is made from our close planted vineyards Serré and De La Terre which cropped at only 600 g / vine in 2011. Well over half of this wine is made from vines grown at our Olive Tree Hill vineyard that are over thirty years of age. Due to the cooler conditions experienced in 2011 this wine was made with only 40% whole bunches and spent 3 weeks on skins  before being transferred to one third new barriques for 12 – 18 months maturation.”
