Description

Paringa Estate is one of the jewels of Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula wine region, consistently making some of the nation’s leading examples of Pinot Noir, Shiraz and Chardonnay.

Founder and owner, Lindsay McCall, established the vineyard in 1985. He is lauded as one of the region’s handful of pioneers. He bought an old north-facing orchard and planted The Paringa vineyard. At an elevation of 140 metres it curls around the landscape like a vinous amphitheatre, sheltered from the harsh southwesterly winds. The deep, rich volcanic soils give power, flavour and structure to the wines. The vines are reaching their peak of maturity too, and this is a crucial factor in producing wine of the highest quality. In 2007, Paringa Estate was awarded the innaugral “Best Winery in Australia,” in the ‘James Halliday’s Wine Companion’ book – an astonishing achievement for someone with no formal training in viticulture or winemaking.

The Peninsula label represents the first tier in the Paringa Estate range. In recent years Paringa has renewed its focus in ensuring the Peninsula range over delivers on quality.

“The quality of these wines are often equal to many other vineyards best” – James Halliday

About this wine from the winemakers:  The ‘Peninsula’ label expresses the unique characteristics of Mornington pinot. The fruit comes from different sites and microclimates around the Peninsula.

Good flowering, and a long, mild ripening season in 2025, have created an outstanding vintage for pinot in the region, one of the best in the past decade.
The pinots are highly aromatic, with good acid, fine tannins and excellent length.

This wine is pure joy! The nose is perfumed and enticing, with notes of red cherry and spice. The palate has plush fruit, with fine tannins, bright acid, and a firm savoury finish.

93 points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front “This hits the spot, not least at its price point. It has flavour, but it also has some snap to it. I’m thinking cherry, spice, a little cedar, herb and perfume. The tannin sits confidently within the wine, not too much, not too little, and there’s brightness, energy, and good length to boot. Lovely wine. Recommended.”
