“A normal wet winter was followed by a picturesque dry spring. The long range weather patterns indicated a shift from La Niña towards El Niño, which favours drier and hotter conditions. In these warmer seasons, we adjust our practices to encourage slightly higher yields and more canopy cover. However, the unexpected summer rainfall in December and January presented a unique challenge, resulting in larger bunches and berry development. Warm conditions prevailed through February and early March, promoting ripening of flavours and sugars with the balance we were aiming for. The warmth led to an intense couple of weeks, during which we harvested the majority of the grapes.”
“Grenache handpicked on the 2nd and 4th of April. All other varieties handpicked on the 5th of April and fermented together. All varieties destemmed and 50% crushed to open fermenters. Approx 12 days on skin with a very gentle maceration. Matured on lees in older French oak puncheon and foudre for 11 months. Bottled February 2025. Certified Organic and Biodynamic.”
91 points, Marcus Ellis, Halliday Wine Companion “This is a new addition to the Yangarra line-up, utilising some of the younger vine southern Rhône material. Pale in the glass, it’s somewhat frisky in its mid-girth way with the pedal on freshness. Grenache’s red berry, redcurrant and cherry notes lead, backed up by some boysenberry and warm baking spices. While I wouldn’t drink it cold, this would be perfect coming up from fridge to cellar temperature for drinking alfresco on a summer’s day.”
91 points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front “This is quite juicy, but also a little savoury and meaty. Raspberry, boysenberry, orange peel and a little sweet spice. It’s medium-bodied, has some powdery grip to tannin, a bit of a blood orange tang though red fruits, and finishes with solid length. Nice wine all up.”
