Leading vintners, the Drake-Brockmans of Hamelin Bay wines are located in the (cooler) Karridale sub-region, in the south of Margaret River. The estate is owned by the Drake-Brockman family who have long pioneering roots in the area dating back to early settlement by the Bussell family in 1830. Margaret River produces some of Australia’s best and most elegant Cabernet merlot. 100% estate grown fruit followed by 18 mths maturation in French oak
Juicy, ripe cassis fruit with tobacco leaf and lovely fine grained “more-ish” tannins and polished by integrated French oak makes this delicious drinking at bargain price!
93 points, James Halliday 2018 Australian Wine Companion “68% cabernet sauvignon, 24% merlot and 3% malbec, estate-grown, destemmed, fermented with cultured yeast, matured for 12 months in French barriques (16% new). There’s a lot happening here, mocha notes on one side, savoury/earthy olive on the other, dark berry fruits occupying the middle ground.
