Crafted by renowned Geelong pinot producer. which is very burgundian in style. 100% Estate grown fruit (low yielding 1.5 tonnes per acre) from vines up to 30 years old (Clones MV6. 114 Burgundy. 115 Burgundy & D5V12). A complex aroma of cherry and plum characters with a hint earthy complexity. Lively varietal characters of cherry and spice make way to beetroot and cherry flavours together with well balanced spicy oak. sweet leather and a touch of stalk throughout the mid palate. Scotchmans Hill has a lovely balance of fine tannins and fresh acidity which complement the concentrated fruit flavours. Full bodied expression of pinot noir with plenty of structure with a long and flavorsome finish. Decant this or some time in the cellar.
From the winery … “Juicy full bodied palate with cherry and plum fruits. savoury mid palate with beetroot and earthy flavours rounded out by cedar oak on the back palate. The wine has full ripe tannins and firm acid giving the wine great structure. Enjoy and cellar over the next 5 to 7 years. ”
5 Stars. Ben Thomas. The Weekly Review Three clones of pinot noir were harvested in April 2011 before wild yeast fermentation took place in small fermenters. This is a good wine from a tough. wet year and a wine with recent form “ the Bellarine pinot was my favourite of Scotchman’s releases last year. Perfumed cherry. plum and smoky oak aromas along with complex earthy beetroot. rhubarb. cranberry and black cherry flavours sit nicely with a smooth texture and fine grip. It has length to burn. too .
