Description
Produced by Yabby Lake of Mornington Peninsula, Red Claw wines are handpicked, hand crafted and estate bottled. The wines are made by the Yabby team – Tom Carson and the winemaking team of Chris Forge and Luke Lomax, 100% handpicked and following the same principles that guide the single vineyard wines.
With Red Claw the emphasis is on making wines that are bright, juicy and more expressive when young – lending them perfectly to the Australian lifestyle and the way we like to dine.
‘If there is a better value pinot noir on the market, I haven’t met it yet.’ James Halliday
About this wine from the winemakers: “The 2025 season saw a welcomed return of warm and extended summer conditions, producing full flavoured wines with impeccable intensity and balance.
“Handpicked between 20 February – 30 March, with each parcel handled separately in the winery. Hand sorted and carefully destemmed with 10% whole bunches, each parcel went into traditional open fermenters. The wine underwent three days of cold soaking to ensure even and thorough extraction. Batches were on skins for 7-10 days, after which time they were transferred into French oak (500L puncheons) for 10 months, the blend was then assembled and bottled in November 2025. A blend of pinot noir clones MV6, G5V15, 115, 667, ABEL, D4V2, and 114. (Alc 13%)
“Characteristic perfumed, fragrant aromas highlighted by cherry and red fruits, complemented by a touch of spice and underlying French oak. The long, silky palate has lovely elegance and delicacy, a plush, velvety texture and a finely poised finish.”
93 points, Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion “An appealing, juicy offering this vintage, with a core of cherry-accented fruit, pippy and spicy. Quite tangy, too, thanks to the acidity and chinotto/blood orange flavours, with the palate unfurling to medium bodied, layered with plush tannins and some grip to the finish. Overall, very satisfying.”
