Pascal Agrapart (makes a minuscule 6000 cases a year) so his wines are very difficult to find but he is up there with the finest artisan champagne producers. The most respected French wine publication, La Revue du Vin de France rates Agrapart the coveted 3 star rating of Le Classement (only 7 in Champagne) alongside the greats Krug, Selosse, Egly Ouriet, (to give you an understanding of this achievement only 73 domaines out of a total 1500 of the top domaines in France get the coveted 3 star rating).

Disg. July 2021. Minéral is blended from two adjacent vieilles vignes plots (50-plus years old) on the border between Avize and Cramant, where the vine roots plunge straight into the chalky bedrock. The fruit from Le Champ Bouton in Avize was fermented in tank, while the component from Bionnes in Cramant was vinified in 600-litre oak casks. The wine spent just over five years on lees and was dosed at three grams per litre.

This is typically the saltiest, most mineral wine in the Agrapart range. Like all the Agrapart wines the quality is remarkably consistent, with the only variation due to vintage. The 2015 is precisely what you might expect from this cuvée in a more powerful year. It’s deep and layered yet still bright and saline, with preserved lemon notes as well as a salty, nutty complexity and a long, earthy close. Terrific now, it will certainly benefit from one to three years on cork. Another superb Minéral.

94 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous “The 2015 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Minéral Grand Cru is bracing, taut and wiry. Crushed rocks, mint, white pepper and lemon peel drive this blend. The Minéral is especially fine in 2015. There is a bit of youthful austerity, but nothing a few years in bottle can’t take care of. The Minéral is one of the finer 2015s I have come across so far. Dosage is 3 grams per liter. ”
