The Dog Strangler from Teusner is “opulent” Mataro fruit.

The Dog Strangler 2008 from Teusner in the Barossa is a straight Mataro – unusual but non the less very impressive.  It scored this review from Halliday: “The name belies the accessibility of this usually difficult variety (mataro); dark, inky and full of pitch and tar, with a juicy core of pure black fruit; the palate reveals opulent fruit, tannin and chewy savoury elements that all work brilliantly together; the crisp acid crunch on the finish brings you back for more. Rating 94”   James Halliday.
