The Astral Series Barossa Valley Moppa Mataro 2006 is produced from 65 year old Mataro vines. The wine, (not the bottle!) impressed Halliday… “A seriously dark wine, full of licorice, blackberry fruit, earth and ironstone; dense and concentrated, with strong chewy tannins which are completely ripe and in balance with the fruit; exceptionally complex, with many years ahead, which is presumably why it is in a bottle that can withstand an atomic blast.
