sons of eden 2008 vintage a cracker

Simon Cowham from Son of Eden gave us a vintage report:  “Harvest and vintage was short and sharp after an early start. In the lead up there was near perfect ripening conditions with cool nights and beautifully warm days right throughout January and February. This helped produce fruit of immense flavour and intensity. The particularly dry growing season (over the summer months) effectively limited yields to at best average levels. All varieties, except Barossa Valley Mourvedre and Eden Valley Shiraz, were harvested prior to the record breaking heat wave of March, where we experienced 3 consecutive weeks above 35C. That really tested the vines’ survival ability! Fortunately, the heat wave ended with a splash of rain in early April which aided the remaining fruit to finish ripening. Overall, there were no weak varieties or vineyard sites and we are very excited about what wines we have in the cellar from 2008.” It looks rosy for upcoming releases of Sons of Eden wines!
