ravensworth shiraz viognier 07 gold medal winner now in stock
Ravensworth wines, from the Murrumbateman area in the cool climate high country, north of Canberra are now in stock at The Vine Press.
The Ravensworth Shiraz Viognier 2007 won Gold last year at the Wine Wise Small Vignerons Wine Show. This is the most prestigious wine show for small wineries crushing under 500 tonnes a year.
Here are some excellent reviews:
“There’s something a bit nebbiolo-esque about this wine. It has lots of tannin and a certain contemplative nature – its charms are by no means up-front. It smells strongly of cloves and blackberries and tastes of them too, though there’s a cherried lightness. This isn’t thick or syrupy; rather, it saves its biggest hit for the finish.”

Campbell Mattinson – The Big Red Wine Book 2009/10
“Bryan Martin’s take on the shiraz-viognier theme has some savoury earthy notes and toasty grilled nut complexity. It’s cool and measured. The palate reveals some terrific power and richness; fine tannins precipitate down through rich plum and cherry flavours, finishing with toasty oak char.”
