Dr John Lagan (hence the DJL) and his wife Eithne planted their first vines in 1977 in what is now considered one of the oldest vineyards in Margaret River. Xanadu now has a long history of producing wines of distinction, accolades and a reputation as one of the finest wineries in the region.
International wine guru, Jancis Robinson rightly said “Margaret River is the closest thing to paradise of any wine region I have visited …”with it’s stunning coastline, surf and fine wine.”
A blend of Sauvignon Blanc (60%) and Semillon (40%) from Margaret River, WA. 70% of the fruit for this blend is Estate grown in the Wallcliffe subregion, with the balance being predominantly from a mature vineyard in the cooler Karridale sub-region of Margaret River. 2013 was another great Margaret River vintage, continuing the dream run of vintages Xanadu have had in Margaret River over the last eight years!
A beautifully structured wine, layered with savoury textural elements yet with a crystalline backbone of quartz and zesty acidity. The influence of barrel fermentation has added complexity to this otherwise quintessentially crisp, fruit driven blend. This is Margaret River white at its finest!
94 points, James Halliday, 2016 Australian Wine Companion “A high quality blend, every step along the way precisely weighted, in particular the partial barrel ferment that has added a framework for the delicious fruit; this spans herb/snow pea/citrus/lychee/mango.”
