Description
Leading Margaret River boutique producer Stella Bella owns 6 vineyards in central & southern Margaret River in particular the cooler site of Karridale, widely regarded as the premium area for semillon and sauvignon blanc. Winemaker Luke Jollife, Michael Kane and Stuart Pym produce wines of incredible finesse and structure and like their wine labels suggest have a great sense of irreverance, adventure and fun with wine. They have produced a winner here with this their new 2016 release 62% Sauvignon blanc and 38% Semillon.
Derived from an ancient nautical term, “skuttlebutt” was the vessel of water at which people would gather to chat and from which the grapevine of social gossip did sprout. As such, the chance to catch up with friends over a glass of good wine is the perfect occasion for Skuttlebutt! This is a ripper! Depth of juicy tropical fruit bound together by citrusy freshnesss and zing. Impressive and seriously delicious for the price!
James Halliday’s Top 100 Wines 2016 and 94 points -“Sauvignon Blanc has always managed to invest Skuttlebutt with an extra coat or two of rich fruit, with passionfruit, guava, Meyer lemon and cut grass creating a daisy chain of flavours. This takes on Marlborough’s sauvignon blanc on its own terms.” 13.3% Alc
