James Kellie (formerly of Howard Park) has had extraordinary success in a relatively short time, winning trophies galore and for 10 consecutive years the elusive 5 red star rating (the highest recognition possible from James Halliday’s, Wine Companion awarded to Australia’s top 5% of wineries for “a consistent record of excellence”.).
The Great Southern wine growing region of WA provides unmatched versatility and quality for a winemaker. From the elegance and delicacy of cool climate Riesling to the restrained intensity of Denmark Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The texture and richness of Mount Barker Cabernet and the structure, weight and complexity of Frankland River Shiraz. Harewood Estate showcases this potential in a range of wines produced from grapes grown in select, low yielding vineyards.
A blend of grapes from 4 recognised riesling producing sub regions of WA’s Great Southern: Mount Barker, Denmark, Porongarup and Frankland River.
The crisp, citrus characters from the cooler sub regions (Porongurup and Denmark) are complemented by the more textured, spicy notes of the slightly warmer sub regions (Frankland River and Mount Barker). A long, cool ferment in stainless steel tanks, minimal fining and the use of screw caps are all further steps towards capturing the inherent delicacy of this cool climate variety.
Lifted spicy blossom aromas with hints of stone fruits and citrus vibrancy. Seamless palate of initial flavours of passonfruit and lemon barley leading to a richer, spicy mid-palate with hints of pear finishing with classic mouth-watering citrus.
Enjoy this delightful Riesling now and relish the pristine Great Southern Region of Western Australia. Cellaring up to 5 years will be rewarded with the classic complex, toasty, textured characters of an aged cool-climate Riesling.
