Description
Crawford River wines from Henty in South Western Victoria are crafted exclusively from hand-picked and selected fruit grown at their estate vineyard, whereupon they are vinified and bottled on site. The fruit is brought to the winery in small parcels, where meticulous attention is paid to detail. Patience and time are of the essence in their winery.
James Halliday on Crawford River: ” .. is ideally suited to the growing and making of diamond-like rieslings of towering longevity … My love affair with Crawford River Riesling began many years ago, and burns as brightly today as it did when I first tasted it.”
From the winemaker: “This wine is a new release however it is rather limited. 2009 was a smaller vintage at Crawford River and we only kept a small amount of this Riesling for re-release.
The first indication that belies the age of this 8 year young wine is its bright hue; tinged pale green. Fresh, delicate aromas of lime and slate-like characters pervade the nose, with only vague secondary characters suggesting it may be some time off entering a more mature phase. The palate is filled with ripe, green melon, creamy macadamia and custard apple characters, which lend roundness to the enticing palate. Astute balance is complemented by lingering texture and linear acidity, both of which contribute to its excellent persistence. Superb drinking now and well in to the future.” Screwcap.
