Description
Valmiñor is a benchmark producer that is found further south on the Portuguese border of the river Miño. Its vineyards face south-west and east on a mixture of alluvial and granite soils.
The warming effects of the river, southern exposure and heavier soils offer fuller, riper, more tropical wines. This is what we call the ‘Yang’ of Albarino. It is ripe & fleshy.
The Albariños of O Rosal still exhibit high acidity and light salinic notes, however rather than apple-jasmine the palate exhibits stone fruit, mandarin, and a more glyceric mouthfeel. Yum. Viva Espana!
Valmiñor presents a yellow straw colour. Under screwcap
91 points, James Suckling, July 2019 “Green apples, green peppercorns, lemon zest and orange blossom. Bright and steely, this is a medium-bodied white which delivers a minerally palate with cutting acidity. Drink now.”
