Description
Considered to be a benchmark producer in the region, Tiefenbrunner was founded in 1848 and their range of wines including Chardonnay, Muller Thurgau, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon Blanc continue to delight wine-lovers throughout the world. Their vineyards lie on the steep slopes of the region, one in particular, the Feldmarschell von Fenner Muller Thurgau is at 1000 metres above sea-level, and is trellised with the local pergola and wine frame methods. The winery is located in Entiklar, a hamlet of Kurtatsch and the estate consistently wins many awards in Italy’s most famous wine guide, the “Gambero Rosso”.
Made from 100% Pinot Grigio, this wine radiates youthfulness and purity of fruit. This is achieved through stainless steel fermentation and the use of a cork-free closure. Temperature-controlled fermentation at 68 °F in steel tanks followed by four months of aging on the fine lees in concrete vats prior to bottling.
This is pale yellow to sandy in color and subtle in its bouquet, with fruity notes of pears and candied fruits. The eloquent, harmonious body emphasizes its dry, full-bodied taste and round finish. Ripe stone fruits, with thirst quenching core of pristine citrus acidity (you can taste the alpine freshness of the spectacular mountains of Alto Adige). Great intensity of fruit, balance and texture. Alc 13.5 %
This is delicious and latest vintage into our cellar from a classic vintage in Alto Adige – crisp minerality, depth of fruit and mouthwatering freshness.
Award for Excellent Quality/Price, 90 points, Gambero Rosso “The historic winery situated in Niclara offers a refined interpretation of Pinot Grigio with its 2023 Merus. Sourced from the alluvial plains along the Adige River, the grapes are gently vinified and matured in concrete vats, preserving purity and nuance. The nose opens with subtle yet inviting notes of ripe pear and white blossoms. On the palate, the wine strikes a deft balance between varietal freshness and depth, showing a polished texture and clear definition. It finishes long, graceful, and finely poised.”
“A juicy, light-bodied white, with a pretty overtone of floral and spice notes accenting nectarine, stone and blood orange flavors.” The Wine Advocate
