Description
Established is 1831, Bodega Colome is Argentina’s iconic Torrontes producer. Colome is home to the highest vineyards in the world, in the upper limits of the Calchaqui Valley in Salta (up to 3111 metres above sea level) – the high altitude translates to cold mornings and gorgeous vibrant acidity. Torrontes is Argentina’s flagship native white grape variety the Torrontés grape( a cross between Muscat of Alexandria and Mission Grape of Galicia). Colome Torrontes is an aromatic white brimming with aromas of jasmine, orange blossom followed by mouthfilling citrus/grapefruit on the palate with a hint of spice on the finish. Delicious with a thai seafood curry.
91 points Stephen Tanzer. “Very pale bright yellow. Pure, delicate, high-pitched perfume of rose petal and dusty brown spices. Brisk, tactile and quite dry but with an essentially supple texture–even a slightly glyceral character–to the flavors of grapefruit pith, lemon, flowers, spices and salty minerality. This serious yet seductive example of torrontes finishes with sneaky dusty persistence.”
