Description
Domain Quenard has been owned by the same family since the 17th century. Jean-François works alongside his father to expertly manage the 18-hectare domain. In the vineyard as in the winery, he finds inspiration from traditional methods, combining them harmoniously with innovative techniques. Much-loved by professional critics, these wines are sought after for their great complexity.
“The Savoie is a picture of fairy-tale perfection: snow-capped peaks, rolling hills, and sparkling mountain streams. This idyllic region is where Michel Quenard farms twenty-two hectares of vineyards along the steep slopes around Chignin. His grandfather started the domaine in the 1930s. Though he slowly increased his vineyard holdings, he mostly sold off his wine. It wasn’t until 1960 that Michel’s father, André, began bottling under their own label. Michel joined the domaine in 1976. Today, he is joined by his sons, Guillaume and Romain. Their cuvées go beyond the simple “eclectic” that categorizes wines from Savoie; they are unique revelations that reflect the complexity of their terroir and the artistry of this master.” Kermit Lynch Wine Merchants
From the winery: “It is on the famous hillside of Torméry, renowned throughout the ages and which adorns the rocky mountain of Chignin, that our family estate produces a range of white, red and rosé wines of incomparable originality in the appellation “Vin de Savoie Chignin” and ” Chignin Bergeron”. The vines are planted from 300 meters above sea level and rise up to 400 meters with a slope of 40 to 70%. The work of the vineyard until the harvest remains manual and the winemaking traditional. This demanding viticulture, common sense and respectful of nature allows to obtain authentic wines and character. Our vintages reveal the terroir and the grape variety in all their purity and elegance.”
Made from 100% Jacquère; a clean and fresh white variety grown in Savoie, France. The stoniness of the vineyards expresses an alpine freshness and lively minerality. Gorgeous mountain wine think river rock, tinkering alpine streams.. citrus twist, textural and lip smacking fresh.
