Description
For more than 150 years the Lageder family have been committed to the distinctive terroirs of the Alto Adige – prerequisites for highly individual wines. Founded in 1823 and today directed by 5th and 6th generations Alois and Alois Clemens Lageder, the estate combines tradition and innovation based on a sustainable and holistic philosophy. Work in the vineyards is guided by the cycles and forces of nature, from planting to harvest.
The family owned vineyards (50 hectares) located at Magrè, Cortaccia, Termeno and Caldaro are cultivated with biodynamic methods, certified by Demeter. The Lindenburg vineyard at Bolzano and the Krafuss vineyard at S. Michele/Appiano are in conversion.
About this wine: Selected vineyard sites in the southern part of the Alto Adige appellation, 230 to 420 metres a.s.l. (750 – 1,380 feet) rocky, sandy soil and with an important content of limestone.
Fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks with a small part in contact with stems and skins and left on the lees for approximately 4 months.Brilliant, clear, straw yellow with a golden shimmer. Delicate aromas, pronounced bouquet, fruity (peach, melon), exotic spices, mineral. Medium-bodied, quite rich, fruity, spicy, fresh, dry.
Review for 2021: 91 points, James Suckling “A striking pinot grigio! The pink shimmer in the glass means this could pass for a very pale modern rosé and some red-berry fruit on the light and creamy front-palate confirms that impression. Then some solid tannins at the herbal finish turn this in a more serious direction. Drink now.”
