Description
Only the best sites are chosen for growing Stella Bella Chardonnay in Margaret River’s south, in particular the cooler site of Karriedale. Winemakers, Janice Macdonald and Stuart Pym produce wines of incredible finesse and structure and like their wine labels suggest have a great sense of irreverance, adventure and fun with wine. Aromas of citrus, white peach and lemon with cedary french oak influences follow through to a mouth-filling and layered palate. Beautiful balance and harmony in this complex and yet ultra fine chardonnay.
From the winery: “Not too heavy, not too light with a juicy lime acidity, you can feel the grain of the chardonnay across your tongue. The textural finish has a lingering nuttiness and complexity from the battonage, enhancing the signature length of flavour which shows great persistence.”
Gold Medal – Adelaide Royal Wine Show 2016
Gold Medal – Margaret River Wine Show 2016
95 points – James Halliday’s 2016 Chardonnay Challenge.
94 points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front: “Year in, year out, I seem to make the comment that year in, year out, Stella Bella is one of the most reliable performers in the world of Australian Chardonnay.
If you’re familiar with the style of Stella Bella Chardonnay, you can probably stop reading now and look at the score: it’s more of the same. Melon, lime, cashew and a whiff of struck match. The ‘not too heavy, not too light, just right’ style continues with plenty of fruit flavour, juicy lime acidity, some cashew and spice, and a long clean, tight finish. All the goodness of Margaret River and Chardonnay rolled into an affordable bottle.”
