Bannockburn Vineyards (25 kms north west of Geelong) have been one of the trailblazers of Australian fine wine for over 37 years. Made by Michael Glover who took over winemaking in 2005 he quickly took the wines to yet another level and captured plenty of attention “…outstanding wines across the range, all with individuality, style, great complexity and depth of flavour. “
James Halliday and 5 star winery rating. “Michael Glover is one of the most intelligent and questioning winemakers of Australia’s younger generation..” Andrew Jefford, the World of Fine Wine ..
Is this Australia’s finest Chardonnay? The wine is built for longevity. Cannot add much to the glowing reviews below except to say decant this profoundly complex and yet ultra fine chardonnay or cellar for a couple of years. Alc 12.5%
96 points, James Halliday, 2017 Australian Wine Companion: “Whole bunch-pressed, transferred without settling to barriques, puncheons and tank for wild yeast fermentation and 2 years maturation on lees. Deep, but bright, yellow; a very complex wine that coasted through its long time in barrel; white peach, fig and pink grapefruit do the talking, not the oak as one might expect; despite its complexity, has an exciting fresh finish.”
94 + points Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front “A beautiful release of Bannockburn Chardonnay. Golden colour and rich up-front, but it’s a wine most characterised by its length of flavour. It sizzles through the finish. It tastes of lime, white peach and pineapple with oatmeal, nougat and fully integrated struck match. The finish is chalky, minerally, almost steely, though that lime juice succulence continues all the way to the very end.”
