Tasted this by chance with a highly respected Mornington winemaker whose comment was You can ™t make pinot of that quality for that price? Need we say more!
2010 was dry and moderately warm season which allowed steady ripening and flavour development. Predominantly wild yeasts with some whole bunch fermentation. variety of french oak used. Seductive bouquet/ aromatics…both red and black fruits and depth of secondary characters too. Very impressive pinot hard to beat for quality and value
Charmingly silky. smooth and fragrant. with weight. fleshiness. balance and elegance. A deep floral perfumed of rose petals. raspberries. cherries. sweet vanilla oak and briar reveals hints of mint and musk. Its long. pristine palate of pure cherry/berry fruit is supported by a genuinely firm. fine grained and pliant undercarriage. finishing with gentle acids. softness and suppleness. Likely to gain weight and depth with time. 94 Points Australian Wine Annual 2012 By Jeremy Oliver. 2012.
“Complexity. Spicy whole bunch components. mineral. cranberry and cherry the main flavour players. It ‘s got good weight and texture along with sweet ripe fruit. and while it ‘s a touch sappy. it ‘s also firm and strong willed. A layer of sweet creamy oak serves to soften some of the frown lines. Lovely dry finish and no problems with length … there ‘s no doubting it ‘s an impressive and beautifully made wine. 93 Points. The Winefront. By Gary Walsh
