Pierre Chermette has become one of the beacons of Beaujolais quality.. David Schildknecht. Robert Parker ™s The Wine Advocate. August 2008
The Chermette family were the first to embrace sustainable agricultural practices in Beaujolais. Cru beaujolais is a remarkable medium bodied red made from the Gamay grape. fragrant and juicy with succulence. depth and savoury length. Vissoux is the top rated Beaujolais producer in leading french guide. “Les Meilleurs Vins de France “.
Fruit for this fine cuvee hails from 70 year old vines planted behind the Chermette ‘s family home in St Vérand on dark. granite soil. Made in the traditional beaujolais style handpicked fruit. wild yeasts.no chaptalisation. 6 day carbonic maceration. followed by maturation in old oak tuns. Concentrated purity of fruit from raspberry to pomegranate thru ‘ to black fruits plump and silky with power that leads into more ish smoked meat and tar characters ( thanks to granitic soils). This is magic and my favourite wine for quality and value in the Vissoux line up. 90 pts Robert Parker ‘s Wine Advocate.
