Description
Skillogalee wines took its name from legend that goes back to the 1840 ‘s when explorer/pioneer. John Horrocks became lost and survived on a `Skilly ‘ (gaelic word meaning broth) made of grass and seeds.
This fine blend of cabernet sauvignon . cabernet franc and malbec (all co fermented) sourced from dry grown low yielding ( 1.5 tonnes/acre) vineyard in Clare. This wine has transformed into a complex velvety red of rich dark fruits. savoury earthy and tobacco with hints of fresh mint thanks to a few years of bottle age. Elegant cabernet blend with lush ripe fruit and beautifully integrated oak. The refreshing backbone of natural acidity has kept this red young and exhuberent…..this red is not showing any dried fruit characters yet and has got easily another 5 years to develop further.
