“Every winemaker hopes to make a wine that is recognised as a leader in its class. Pinot Noir has been a passion of mine for 25 plus years and while we have won a number of awards during those years. this is the ultimate. ” Tim Knappestein upon receiving the Winewise Award.
Sourced from some of the oldest Pinot Noir vineyards in the high cool climate Lenswood and Picadilly sub regions of the Adelaide Hills this beautifully structured pinot with its very floral. generous red berry flavours is remarkable quality for the price.
2010 was an excellent pinot year. with an early season and a heatwave in November which accelerated vine growth and flowering. The weather then moderated and produced a cool. sunny ripening period and excellent development of flavour. colour and tannins.
92 points. Jeremy Oliver. The Australian Wine Annual 2013 “Spotlessly made. generous and slowly maturing. with a punchy. very floral and lightly smoky fragrance of red berries. cherries. beetroot and dark plums knit with fresh cedar/vanilla oak and backed by a hint of rhubarb. ”
93 points. James Halliday Fresh. light crimson. the fresh. fragrant bouquet leads into a well structured and balanced palate. with an array of small berry fruits and spices. the finish long and satisfying. ”
91 Points. Campbell Mattinson. The Wine Front It would be a great foil to duck pancakes. Sour sweet cherries and dry spices with gummy. velvety texture. A deep and lengthy piste of flavour is its forte. though it remains varietal. Prominent acidity works as a florentine to all that fruit/crushed spice … good solid pinot noir drinking to be had here.
