Ravishing Rioja is a blend of 50% Garnacha.50% Tempranillo. 2012 was a very good vintage in La Rioja (drought year..driest in 60years!). Alvaro calls it a “year of character ” and produced a wine “..concentrated and vigorous. but with finesse.. elegance .. ” It ‘s mid weight. utterly complete. ravishingly spiced and with great harmony of tannin. acid and perfume. Alvaro ™s precise yet barely tutored wines always speak gently but unfailingly of the earth in which they grow. and this hallmark ™s in spades here. Red black fruits in red dirt bespeak this. the jewel vineyard of Rioja Baja. Awesome. softly gloving fruit tannin is the heart from which ever so pleasant fruit radiates a warm glow.
