Description
Verdejo is now one of Spain ™s best performing white wines and Martinsancho is the benchmark. Angel Rodríguez saved the shy bearing. thick skinned Verdejo by his stubborn refusal to uproot his 17th Century vineyard in Rueda. The vineyard is all bush grown. organic. un irrigated and cropped at very low levels. The original vines. some over 200 years old (!) still bear fruit. This fine wine is fresh and racy with floral. spicy aromatics (reminds me of riesling and sauvignon) and brims with profound intensity of fruit ( citrus and mineral twist) texture and freshness. All class and sophistication here.
90 Points Josh Reynolds. International Wine Cellar .. “Pale yellow. Vibrant. mineral inflected aromas and flavors of citrus fruits and green apple. with quinine and white pepper nuances. Dry and racy. offering zesty lift and a long. focused finish. This pure. energetic wine will work with all sorts of seafood dishes or with fresh cheeses. ”
