92 points The Wine Front .. “Extra points here for texture and finish. It feels beautiful in your mouth. all velvety cherry and raspberry and dried. woody spice. Fine. massaged tannin plays a key role and while it leaves your mouth with a fair amount of alcohol warmth. the weight of fruit carries it. Highly polished wine. ”
92 points from James Halliday .. “a vibrant and lively grenache. with the accent on red berry fruit. not Turkish delight. and the medium bodied palate has good structure and length. ”
Here ‘s a bit of what Englishman Matthew Jukes wrote about the 2006…. My enthusiasm is the same.
“Strap yourself in for a roller coaster ride. because this spectacular wine is a white knuckle treat…. This dense. dark brooding red is made from the woefully underrated red grape Grenache…. Grenache forms the engine room of Chateauneuf du Papes. and it is this complex flavour spectrum and inert power that Prodigal Grenache has in spades….. You must decant it because there is a lot of energy in this wine that needs to be organised. ordered and aligned in a decanter before you dive in…… I tasted it last week and went back to it over the next 3 days and it kept opening up and revealing more and more layers of crushed plum and spice… Staggering value for money. this is a wine that is drinking beautifully now. but has five or more years ahead of it to perform wonders for you. “
