Description
Terre à Terre. a French expression meaning Down to Earth. is a small family business run by husband and wife team Xavier Bizot and Lucy Croser. The vineyard is located next to Tapanappa ™s Whalebone Vineyard. at the top of a north south limestone ridge in Wrattonbully. one of Australia ™s most exciting regions. The Terra Rossa top soil. which is characteristic of the area. is covered in the eastern flank of this vineyard by a shallow layer of eolian sands. making it highly suited for Sauvignon Blanc. This is a very good example of modern Sauvignon Blanc with low alcohol (12.2% v/v). intense fruit characters combined with a good texture and exemplary varietal characters. It demonstrates the exceptional quality of the terroir in our Wrattonbully vineyard site.
James Halliday …It leaves those who deny sauvignon blanc a place in vinous heaven out in the cold.
Jancis Robinson … Terre à Terre of Wrattonbully. the new label from ex Bollinger Xavier Bizot. seems to have introduced. or at least suggested. a completely new direction for Australian Sauvignon.
92 points. Gary Walsh. The Wine Front … “Wrattonbully you ™d not have bet it would be making some of the better Sauvignon in Australia.
Perfumed style “ lovely to smell. Aniseed. floral notes. quince and gooseberry. Light and crisp. full of citrus and gooseberry tartness. touch of creaminess and flint and very good length. Discreet Sauvignon. ”
4 Stars. Ben Thomas. The Weekly Review “..Hand picked. it is fermented in a combination of stainless steel tanks and a 2000 litre French oak barrel known as a foudré. The wine then spends three months on its yeast lees to gain complexity and texture. It smells of quince. citrus and tropical fruits “ seriously alluring. Silky and textural. this is refreshment personified with intense citrus. mineral and passionfruit flavours that have grip and a lengthy finish. ”
