Rémy Klein (makes wines that proudly speak of their place. Sabran) high up in the hills with soils comprised of sand and limestone. He picks his fruit a bit earlier than most resulting in a range of fresh. highly refined Côtes du Rhône wines brimming with fruit and character. There is a purity and freshness ( cooler temperature/ more natural acid resulting altitude) in his wines quite distinct from many of the Côtes du Rhones produced at lower altitudes and on alluvial soils.
Les Chevrefeuilles (means honeysuckle) is a rouge that pays homage to the great multi varietal Rhône blends including Grenache. Syrah. Mourevèdre. Carignan. Cinsaut and Counoise (which perhaps adds a peppery nuance on the finish) “ Plenty of old vine fruit which is sorted and destemmed before a long maceration in tank (about three weeks). and the wine spends one year in tank prior to bottling. The blend works brilliantly with powerful black fruit and spice aromas and the herby/earthy touches that come from old vine Carignan and friends lavender. violets. thyme. bayleaf and warm stones.
