Rémy Klein (makes wines that proudly speak of their place. Sabran) high up in the hills with soils comprised of sand and limestone. He picks his fruit a bit earlier than most resulting in a range of fresh. highly refined Côtes du Rhône wines brimming with fruit and character. There is a purity and freshness (cooler temperature/ more natural acid resulting altitude) in his wines quite distinct from many of the Côtes du Rhones produced at lower altitudes and on alluvial soils.
Les Arbousieres is a single vineyard. old vine blend of Grenache (60%) and Syrah (40%). The name references a type of fruit tree that produces a red ‘strawberry ‘ like fruit and that abounds in central France. 2010 was a terrific growing season in the Rhone…heralded as the vintage of a generation. Plenty of colour and concentration here from perfectly ripe fruit. with aromas of dark berries. hazelnut. lightly smoked meats and spice. The mouthfeel is saturated with intense red cherry fruit and peppery spices. yet has a crunchy. electric finish. A very exciting and effortlessly classy Côtes du Rhône.
