2002 was simply a magnificent year described somewhat heroically by Jukes & Stelzer in Taste Food and Wine 2008 as among the best sparkling reds ever made Of all our sparkling shiraz ™s we have made. the ™02 (at least at this stage of its life would have to be my personal favourite) there ™s something about its flavour and texture that gives it an aged pinot character. Flavours are complex showing mushroom and bramble rather than simply fruit… with the long dry finish reflecting a beautiful balance between added fortified shiraz and natural tannin. Drink now or age for further integration and complexity. .
Nick Stock from Wine Business Magazine could not contain his enthusiasm as good as any Sparkling Shiraz ever made in this country.
