Santiago Achaval Becu and Manuel Ferrer joined forces in 1998 with Italian winemakers Roberto Cipresso and Tiziano Siviero to explore the terroirs and old vineyards of Mendoza. Starting at Finca Altamira. an 87 year old vineyard about one hour ™s drive to the south in the Uco Valley at La Consulta. the 102 year old vines of Finca Bella Vista at Perdriel were added in 2002. Malbec is of course the star here and Archaval Ferrer ™s wines are all about finesse and balance not the big. tannic styles widely seen. Their hallmark is their silky mouthfeel and seamless palate Old vines produce miniscule yields of intense. perfumed. complex fruit balanced with the use of new oak.
