Description
Founded in 1877 by Jean Bouillot the estate of Louis Bouillot is a specialist Cremant de Bourgogne producer now run by Jean-Claude Boisset and it produces a range of excellent Methode Traditionnelle sparkling wines from sites across the Côte d’Or. The Cremant de Bourgogne appellation was officially created in 1975 and the domaine, based in Nuits-St-Georges, produces great value sparkling wines that provide a great alternative to Champagne, from the vivid pinot Noir fruit of the Perle Bourgogne Mousseux Rouge to their lively and complex Perle de Vigne Grand Reserve.
From the winery: “Perle de Vigne is the perfect illustration of our firm’s know-how. Here Pinot Noir and Chardonnay show their very best. Pale yellow color with green tints. A complex nose with aromas of peach and then nuances of flower. Lively, fresh attack with a good harmony between red fruits and citrus. The finish is lovely and well-balanced.”
Blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Gamay, Aligoté, made in the Traditional Method, with 12 months on lees.
4.5 Stars, Sam Kim, Wine Orbit “Charming and elegant, the bouquet shows nectarine, crunchy apple, oatmeal and lemon zest aromas, leading to a finely textured palate offering delicate fruit intensity with beautifully pitched acidity, finishing lingering and attractive.”
90 Points, Cameron Douglas MS “A lovely example with flavours of fresh white stone fruits and citrus, the autolysis offers a mix of baked goods and white peach, a soft and creamy mousse and acid line that carries both flavours and freshness. A balanced and well made wine with drinking from day of purchase through 2027+.”
