Description

Jansz Tasmania is a luxury sparkling wine house, solely devoted to the art of sparkling winemaking since 1986. Location is integral to growing outstanding fruit and only Tasmania can boast such idyllic conditions. Put simply, it is the perfect place to craft premium sparkling wines. By allowing nature to do the work, our wines are naturally expressive of our Tasmanian home and its pure, pristine environment. Undeniably Tasmanian. Unmistakably Jansz.

Teresa Heuzenroeder is a celebrated Australian winemaker with over 30 years of experience crafting award-winning cool-climate wines. Combining scientific precision with creative intuition, she is renowned for her expertise in sparkling and white winemaking across cool-climate regions Tasmania, Adelaide Hills, Eden Valley and King Valley. With her scientific background and eye for detail, Teresa discovered her passion for sparkling wine in the intricate balance of art and science. Her dedication to excellence continues to shape the future of Jansz Tasmania and Australian sparkling wine.

Our journey began almost 400 years ago aboard Abel Tasman’s ship, The Heemskerk, when European eyes first caught sight of what would become known as Tasmania, on November 24, 1642. The very same winds that brought Abel Janszoon Tasman here then, blow over this island paradise today and play a vital role in the creation of its unique microclimate.

“Climate has always been central to winemaking and the similarities of Tasmania’s climate to northeast France, along with the rich and free-draining basalt soils, led the famed Champagne house Louis Roederer to partner with Heemskerk Wines and plant Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines in Pipers River in 1986.

“Like Roederer, the Hill-Smith Family recognised the region’s potential to create world-class sparkling wines. They purchased the property in 1998 and set about establishing one of the most highly regarded family-owned sparkling wine houses in Australia, dedicated to making premium sparkling wines, using the traditional Méthode Champenoise for all its vintage wines. Jansz Tasmania was born.”

About this wine:  From the very best Tasmanian vineyards comes this vibrant yet delicate sparkling Rosé – a wine created for enjoyment and refreshment. Crafted in the Old World style, with inspiration from today’s innovative techniques and knowledge.

94% Pinot Noir, 4% Chardonnay and 2% Pinot Meunier. Fruit is 100% estate grown from Pipers River & Tamar Valley in the north and Coal River Valley in Tasmania’s south.  Rigorous fruit selection and individual batch winemaking form the basis of this fine Cuvée. Specially selected and crafted individual batches form the basis of this Rosé.

Hand-picking, gentle whole bunch pressing, cool fermentation, 100% malolactic fermentation, complex assemblage and extended ageing on lees after bottle fermentation, all combine to produce a stylish and complex wine. To maximise blending options and complexity in the final wine, batches are kept separate during winemaking. Released with three months of bottle age.

A vibrant sparkling Rosé showcasing the beguiling aromatics inherent to Tasmanian sparkling Pinot Noir. There are delicious, captivating aromas of strawberries and cream, rose petals, Turkish delight and fresh brioche. The palate is creamy, textured and rich while retaining an elegant vibrancy and freshness. A wine full of “joie de vivre” that brings the delights of summer into the glass at any time. Once released this wine is ready to enjoy.

Ray Jordan’s Top 100 Whites, Sparklings & Rosés “Everything about this Tasmanian wine is right. A faint blush colour, beautiful floral lift on the nose and lingering palate with a fine thready bead. A hint of strawberries and cream adds to the appeal.”

Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion “A lovely, pale salmon-pink hue announces this year’s Jansz rosé, which sports a fine, enthusiastic bead and notes of red apple, redcurrant and strawberry fruits. There’s a nice creaminess to the mid-palate, perhaps some light peach, apple turnover and sea spray showing through. Finishes with just a swell of dosage and fine, lacy acidity at the back end.”

The Buyer UKOne of the best New World sparkling rosés, this has texture and vibrancy; delicate red berries give it a lift, whilst the stone fruit keeps it savoury and serious.”
