Idée Fixe. Noun, [ee-dey feeks], French. A fixed idea. Obsession. Making méthode traditionnelle wines has been a quiet obsession of Vasse Felix for decades. This fixation led to the serendipitous discovery of a mysterious clone of Chardonnay, grown in the deep south of Margaret River, upon rare quartz based soils. Here, the Southern Ocean brings persistent cloud and biting cold winds. The fully-equipped méthode tranditionelle winemaking facility was established in 2018 to complete every process from grape to final labelling within the walls of the house and is one of only a handful of its kind in Australia. Margaret River Blanc de Blancs is our idée fixe. The Idée Fixe Winery and Vineyard are certified members of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia.
Idée Fixe is made méthode traditionnelle, with its secondary fermentation and extended ageing on lees completed in bottle. The Idée Fixe winery is a dedicated site, that is fully equipped, and one of only a handful of its kind in Australia. The in-house facilities allow for complete control over pressing, fermentation, tirage, secondary fermentation and bottle ageing, riddling, disgorgement and labelling. The finest equipment has been selected to deliver the ultimate in quality.
The curious sibling to Idée Fixe Premier Brut, this Brut Rosé is crafted from estate-grown Chardonnay, with a portion of Pinot Noir. (85.3% Chardonnay, 14.7% Pinot Noir). Vintage 2023.
A poised Rosé of pale salmon hues with a persistent, lively bead. Alluring notes of freshly gathered strawberries, red cherry and goji berries unfold above fragrant intimations of crunchy white nectarine and baked patisserie. Exuberant with invigorating minerality, the palate transitions elegantly from notes of Australian finger lime pearls, cherry and pink rose petal to a creamy sea foam mousse.
