Maison Veuve Ambal was founded in the heart of Burgundy in 1898 by Veuve Marie Ambal, widow of a Parisian banker. Marie returned to Rully to join her brother, wine lover and wine broker, at the time method traditionelle was being introduced for sparkling wines. The wines immediately gained recognition and her grandson Charles Roux Ambal, followed by his grandson and current President Eric Piffaut, have continued to build on Marie’s philosophy of quality, and the combination of tradition and modernity which is the signature of Veuve Ambal. With over 250 hectares of vineyards planted to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in 6 regions across Burgundy including the best terroirs in Chablis, Chatillonaise (close to Champagne), St Aubin & Macon. Philiosophy of sustainable viticulture and winemaking is paramount to Veuve Ambal, leaders in the production of Cremant de Bourgogne today.
The Cremant de Bourgogne Appellation Controllee has strict regulations to guarantee premium quality, similar climatic and rigorous growing conditions demanded in the making of Champagne and with all the finesse and elegance you would expect but for a fraction of the price! Hand harvested, 100% estate grown Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Gamay & Aligote have been blended to produce pristine purity of citrus, green apple with some biscuity complexity (Method Traditionelle secondary fermentation in bottle followed by 12 months on lees). Beautifully elegant, with a long, crisp and dry finish.
