Description

Vincent Paris is a native of Cornas and his first vintage was in 1997. He inherited most of his vineyards (some of which are 100+ years old) from his grandfather and purchased some from his uncle, legendary Cornas vigneron Robert Michel, on his retirement in 2006.

The biodynamically farmed vineyards are located in various parcels along the southeast facing Cornas slope. Vincent’s wines exhibit power, yet possess a determined freshness and elegance to them. His Granit 30 and Granit 60 take their names from the slope and gradient of the vineyards and average vine age respectively. Vincent’s famed Geynale parcel is comprised exclusively of old vines planted in 1910. Vincent Paris is without a doubt one of the rising stars of the Rhône Valley.

Crozes Hermitage comes from vines of average 30 years of age, planted on alluvial soils of the Rhone appellation. The ground is covered with pebbles that accumulate heat during the day which preserves well during the cool nights. The 100% Syrah vines are cultivated sustainably to limit any potential spraying. Leaf plucking and green harvest to reduce the yields (average 35 Hl/Ha) improve the aromatic intensity of the grapes.
The grapes are de-stemmed 100%. The Tanks are pumped over morning and evening, with temperature control to obtain a fruitier wine. Vinification lasts 3 weeks. The wine aged is 50% in vats, 50% in used barrels for 9 months before bottling.
This wine is beautifully fleshy and juicy, showing red fruit flavours accompanied by spicy notes and a hint of savoury black olive. To fully enjoy this wines’ vibrancy drink in its youth.  Notes by Importer

Review for 2018 ..91 pts Josh Raynolds Vinous Media, April 2020 “Deep, glistening violet. Primary black/blue fruits, black pepper, smoked meat and a hint of licorice on the incisive nose. Juicy and energetic on the palate, offering bitter cherry, blackberry and spicecake flavors that take a sweeter turn on the back half. Shows just a hint of silky tannins on the persistent finish, which leaves zesty dark berry and spice notes behind. This wine is made from fruit that Paris sources from the river-stone laden soils of Chassis, in the southern sector of the appellation. “
