In 2007 a partnership was hatched between the passionate Rick Kinzbrunner of iconic Giaconda Estate in Beechworth and Michel Chapoutier in the Rhone. Ergo Sum (latin for “I think therefore I am “) was born. Plenty of complementary know how and pedigree here in this partnership to produce stunning wine. Shiraz is grown on the old Nantua Vineyard 3 kms from Giaconda, in Beechworth in the foothills of the Victorian Alps. Fine syrah that is perfumed and spicy with old world purity of fruit, minerality thanks to the granitic soils and vibrant acidity, well integrated savoury french oak. 2010 was a dream vintage for vintners in Beechworth without adverse weather conditions. Delicious cool climate shiraz in a beautiful place now after blessed with some bottle age.. Reminiscent of a fine wine from the northern rhone.
94 + points Robert Parker … “These Chapoutier wines are sometimes reviewed by my colleagues David Schildknect in his Languedoc-Roussillon report and Lisa Perrotti-Brown in her reviews of Australian wines, so I will just list the wines, my score, and the region from which they emerge. They are of very high quality and deserve readers’ attention. Hopefully my prose has convinced more than a handful of readers to try these remarkable wines from one of the most fascinating and compelling personalities in the entire wine world, and one dedicated to the highest quality.”
